Join IEL

IEL may talk to the people who help look after you. Your support coordinator, plan manager, doctor, specialists, pharmacist, hospital, therapists and other providers.

We share only what they need to keep your supports joined up.

If you say no: We work only from what you tell us. Some supports may not be safe to do.

IEL may keep your health information to support you.

In an emergency, when you cannot be asked, we may share it to keep you safe.

If you say no: We cannot do personal care, medicines or nursing without this. We talk with you first.

IEL workers may help you shower, dress and use the toilet.

If you say no: No personal care. Your other supports go on.

IEL workers may remind you, help you take, or give your medicine from a labelled pack. We follow your doctor's written instructions.

We may keep it safe and talk to your doctor and pharmacist about it.

This does not allow medicine to be used to control behaviour. That needs a behaviour support plan.

If you say no: Workers do not touch your medicines. You or someone you choose looks after them.

IEL may hold a key or code for your home.

Workers may come in when you are out, to do agreed jobs.

They may also come in if we think you are unwell and cannot answer.

If you say no: Workers come in only when you let them in. Overnight support may not be possible.

IEL workers may handle your money for shopping and errands.

They may help you pay bills, and use a card you give them for agreed buys.

Every dollar is written down. Every receipt comes back to you. Never your PIN.

If you say no: Workers never handle your money.

IEL workers may drive you in an IEL car and take you out.

They may use their own car when IEL has approved it.

If you say no: Supports at home only. No trips in a car.

IEL may charge for worker travel time and kilometres, and for driving you places, at the NDIS rates.

It shows on every invoice as its own line. If a worker drives two people, the cost is shared.

If you say no: No travel charge, ever. Some trips may not be possible.

IEL may take photos of you for your support file.

We may photograph an injury or an incident for the record.

Nothing goes on a website or social media under this answer. We ask you every time for that.

If you say no: No photos. Records in words only.

IEL may use photos, video or audio of you, with your name and face removed, to train staff.

If you say no: Nothing of you is used in training.

IEL may keep your behaviour support plan, follow it, collect behaviour notes, and share them with your practitioner.

If you say no: We cannot follow your plan. No restrictive practice will be used. Some supports may not be safe.

IEL may talk to your old provider to get your plans.

When you leave, we may talk to your new provider to hand over.

If we need to find you another provider, we tell them only your supports, hours and area.

If you say no: You carry the paperwork yourself. Handover is slower.

When an agency worker covers a shift, IEL may give them what they need for that shift. Your support plan, medicine chart, behaviour plan and risk plan. Nothing more.

If you say no: We tell you which shifts we may not be able to cover.

IEL may use a photo of you on our website, in ads, flyers or on Facebook.

We ask you again before each new use. You can say no any time.

If you say no: Your face never goes public.

A photo of you may go on the photo wall at the Day Centre.

If you say no: No photo on the wall.

In a shared IEL house, a worker may support you and your housemates together.

Workers may be told what they need about each person in the house to keep everyone safe.

If you say no: We talk with you about what shared living can look like.

While supporting you, a worker may use your kitchen, phone, Wi-Fi and equipment when the support needs it.

They never use your things for themselves.

If you say no: Workers bring their own.
